Product Review – Hotter ‘Laurel’ Women’s Deck Shoes

Helen at Hvar Castle, Croatian sailing trip

Getting ready for my sailing trip on the Adriatic around the Croatian islands, I started thinking about what shoes to pack. I wanted something that I could slip on and off easily, would dry quickly if I got them wet, looked great and above all were comfortable.

Hotter’s nautical inspired Laurel deck shoe fitted the bill perfectly. With the great choice of colours I picked one (Dark Stone) that worked with my capsule wardrobe and gave me the most flexibility.

I wore them for daytime excursions as well as evening drinks and dining out. This meant that I didn’t need to take lots of pairs of shoes, which was invaluable as I was travelling with just carry-on luggage only.

The shoes were thoroughly tested on my hour-long excursion up to Hvar castle and because they are made of breathable canvas my feet stayed cool and comfortable. The cobbles and uneven streets of Split were equally no problem. And with good grip soles and closed-in toes I stayed nice and dry when boarding the yacht. They even dried quickly after the afternoon thunderstorm that left them thoroughly wet.

Laurel Shoes on deck

And now that I’m home, my trusty Laurels are still my favourite go-to summer casual footwear.
