General Style Tips

  • Goa is a heady mix of color, style and comfort.
  • However, it is also hot and humid so we suggest only packing lightweight clothes in natural fibers; linen, silk and cotton. They have the double benefit of being more comfortable to wear in this climate and easy to wash.
  • Pack light as it's very easy to get clothes laundered.
  • A sunhat and sunglasses are an absolute must, so make sure you take them with you - along with plenty of sunscreen (we love the Riemann P20 range for 10 hour protection) as the sun is fierce.
  • Sleeveless shirts - if decent - can be worn without any problems.
  • Don’t drink or even brush your teeth in tap water. Consider taking a Water-to-Go Filtration Water Bottle.
  • A lightweight day sack will come in handy to carry your sightseeing essentials.

Clothing Tips for Women

  • The ideal beachwear is a sarong and of course your bikini. Make it bright and colorful to add to the vacation mood. You'll fit in perfectly.
  • Away from the beach Goa remains traditional and conservative so avoid wearing revealing clothes or you will attract unwanted attention.
  • A skirt or loose-fitting pants are good in the heat and will protect you from the sun.
  • Our advice would be to keep swimwear to the beach and pool, and cover up with a kaftan or sarong when walking around public areas. Nudity is not acceptable anywhere, and in fact it is a punishable offence.
  • While visiting places of worship women must wear long skirts or pants and have covered shoulders. Also, don't forget to remove your footwear before entering any religious place.
  • It is advisable to carry a light stole, pashmina or scarf with you to cover your head, in case it gets too hot. and some religious places also require you to cover your head, so it may come in handy for that too.
  • We love Hotter shoes, for total comfort along with style. Or why not try the Lindsay Phillips Switch Flops range - using interchangeable shoe and flip-flop bases with snap-on decorations, you can change your look from day to evening in an instant whilst still packing light.
  • The humidity can play havoc with your hair - so think about accessories or a scarf to keep it looking neat and tidy.

Clothing Tips for Men

  • Loose cotton shirts or T-shirts and long linen pants work well. Long - to avoid being bitten at night.
  • For great versatile travel jackets with multiple pockets including RFID security options, we love the SCOTTeVEST range.

Pack for the Weather

  • If you plan to visit in the winter, November, December, January and February our advice is to pack some long-sleeved tops and a wrap for the evenings, but it will still be hot during the day.
  • We love the Weather+ app - it gives an accurate 6 day forecast for day and night, which when you're planning from home is really helpful. You can keep all the places you've been to too - a nice way to remember your trip :) Download for iPad/iPhone or Android
